about

Hailing from a family of teachers, Dr. Beibei Lin is first and foremost dedicated to the development, growth, and success of her students and considers teaching her highest calling and greatest privilege. She believes in a thorough musical education that emphasizes, in equal proportion, theoretical knowledge, technical training, musical thoughtfulness, and historical understanding. She seeks to nurture dedication, independence, and responsibility in her students; qualities that allow students to become well-rounded musicians, mature thinkers, and kind citizens of their community. She was awarded the Steinway & Sons Top Teacher Award in 2017 in recognition of her teaching. Her students regularly win recognition at competitions and conferences for their performances as well as scholarship.

Dr. Lin maintains an active performance schedule. She debuted as a soloist with the MasterWorks Festival Orchestra at age seventeen, performing Prokofiev's First Piano Concerto under the direction of Miriam Burns. She recently soloed with the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra in 2022 and has presented guest artist recitals at institutions including University of Kansas, Central Washington University, Texas Christian University, Oklahoma City University, Wichita State University, among others.

Widely sought after as an adjudicator, she has served as a judge for the Florida Junior and Senior Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Piano Competitions, the Alabama Music Teachers Association (AMTA) State Piano Auditions, the AMTA Piano District Auditions, the Alabama All-State Orchestra Auditions, the Georgia Baptist Mission Board Keyboard Festival, and the Pensacola Music Teachers Association Sonata and Scholarship Contest.

As a researcher, Dr. Lin’s work on the pedagogical trends in 21st-Century China was published in the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy Forum. She actively contributes to recent scholarship through performances and presentations at conferences including the Georgia Music Teachers Association Conference, the College Music Society Southern Conference, the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy (NCKP), the MTNA Piano Pedagogy Symposium, and the MTNA Group Piano/Piano Pedagogy (GP3) Forum.
